Helped the STEM Camp during Summer of 2017

Absolute Zero helped Robotics For Youth and STEAM for Kidz conduct EV3 lessons during a 3-week session during summer. It is an all-day camp where we work with the kids to develop their teamwork and STEM skills. We worked with small groups throughout the day during the different activities we did. We also did an activity with them that involved them programming FLL robots using Lego Mindstorms

NOVA STEM DAY

Absolute Zero explained the new relic recovery competition and rules on the NOVA STEM day conducted on 30th of November 2017 at the Northern Virginia Community College, Sterling Campus. We showed our last years robot and talked to people at the event during stem day. They got to drive our demo bots, see lance, and talk to us about robotics. There were many different kids and families that came to the event and were very interested in what they saw and asked how they could start their own teams!

Relicathon

Our team held a scrimmage at Nysmith school on 28th of October 2017. We invited five teams to participate in the scrimmage.  There were quite a few spectators (future FTC’ers) as well. AZ team helped rookie teams answering questions, offering design ideas. On-rookie teams showed off their robots. We brainstormed to find solutions to questions the members had. Teams participated in  ‘find-a-better-way’ discussions and helped a rookie team reach their goals. Future FTC competitors saw the teams in action. We were able to fundraise around $120. After this hack-a-thon-kind-of-an-event, Absolute Zero team helped in First Lego League Hydrodynamics scrimmage event where 20+ FLL teams shared their project and did robot runs. We also helped to collect funds for Puerto Rico disaster recovery effort.
